Vicki Via
Teacher Assistant
Vicki is a speech-language pathologist who recently retired from the public school system. She has experience working with students in age from three to twenty-two who exhibited a wide range of abilities and who were educated in a wide variety of settings. She also has experience working with individuals in the home setting, where she performed speech therapy services. Vicki has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has a Master of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Houston.
Following her retirement in June of 2018, Vicki volunteered teaching English as a Second Language and served as a mentor teaching the fundamentals of golf to children. She missed the everyday interaction and experiences with students and staff members in a school setting, which led her to the Monarch School. Her goal was to have a position where she could support students and teachers in the classroom each day, rather than focusing only on direct speech therapy services. She now serves as a Teacher Assistant. She believes in the mission of the Monarch School and appreciates the therapeutic approach to learning. She hopes to use her previously learned skills and experience to support students with neurological differences and to help them reach their full potential.
Vicki is married and has a twenty seven year old son, who also lives in Houston. In her free time she enjoys watching the Astros, playing Fantasy Football, spinning, working out at the gym, yoga and playing golf as much as she can.
